Wood City Riders
The Wood City Riders Snowmobile Club was founded in 1969 by snowmobile enthusiasts from Cloquet in order to promote, encourage and provide a means of recreation for the sport of snowmobiling in the greater Cloquet area. The club’s current trail system of approximately 55 miles extending out from its center in Cloquet south to the Munger Trail, west to the Cromwell Sno Gophers trail system, and north into St Louis County to the Alborn Sno Devils trail system connector. These trails, combined with local use access trails to Grand Lake, Scanlon and Saginaw are the result of many decades of work by dedicated individuals. The club is continually maintaining, upgrading, brushing and grooming these trails for the enjoyment of all snowmobilers.
The club owns and operates a variety of pre-season maintenance equipment for brushing/mowing, surface preparation and bridge maintenance; and currently owns a Tucker Sno Cat groomer, two ASV 4530 groomers and a selection of Arrowhead and SnoSaver drags for winter trail grooming operations.
From a community standpoint, the club conducts a well attended annual youth snowmobile safety training program using DNR certified Snowmobile Safety Instructors; training area youth on the safety, operation and laws related to the sport of snowmobiling. We are also an active supporter of the Cloquet Educational Fund, The Blue Jean Ball and a large variety of youth programs in northern Carlton County and southern St Louis County.
The club organizes and hosts several member based riding events locally and also hosts several destination rides each season. All snowmobilers are encouraged to join the club and participate in the fun! We are a volunteer based club, and your support is greatly appreciated.
